Rockfall

For several years I have been exploring the same location in North Kent – a former gravel quarry and c19th explosives factory which is now the site of an extensive RSPB water bird reserve. The site is historically layered and ecologically varied, with birds nesting in the remains of buildings once used to manufacture and store dynamite.

This work – which was made in two versions – uses every image on a four rolls of medium format film shot on the site of a demolished factory building. The remains of a place used to manufacture agents of destruction are re-imagined as a natural formation.
